THE NIKE EXPERIMENT
The same pair of Nike shoes was placed in two different rooms, the only difference was that one room was scented with floral scent while the other room was not. At the end of the experiment it revealed that the consumers was 80% more likely to purchase the shoes in the scented room than in the room not scented.
THE HOSPITAL TESTIMONIAL
This hospital had a serious problem with patients cancelling their appointments at the last minute with no chance to refill the lost appointments. This lead to lost revenue and they wanted to change this.
They realised that the appointments were cancelled due to fear and decided to give their MRI department a make-over:
They renamed it to seaside imaging and decorated it with a beach theme. Even their MRI scanner was turned into a sandcastle. They completed the theme by adding coconut-beach and ocean scents.
They had a reduction of 50% in their cancellations.
